The Unofficial Modded Weapons stats screenlet (Development version)

A screenlet that displays the stats of the Modded Weapons server. I began work on this project simply

1. To be able to look up a banned player in the Modded Weapons server banlist without having to go to the Modded Weapons website. Banlist viewing will not be implemented until the next release after 1.0
2. As an inspiration of Carly Marie's This is a beta build of the unofficial Modded Weapons Stats ScreenletModded Weapons stats gadget for Windows Vista
3. To be able to view server stats from my GNOME Desktop on Linux

Before the final 1.0 release of the screenlet, there a few bugs and other stuff that I need to take care of first...

• Each time you switch between mini-mode and full-mode, the screenlet will log the following error to console: cairo.Error: the target surface has been finished
• The screenlet isn't yet configurable in terms of being able to adjust the connection timeout length and whether to automatically reload stats or not
• If you switch between mini-mode and full mode multiple times af fast as you can, the screenlet will unexpectedly close

Changes made since Beta 1:

• Bugfix: When playing team games such as CTF, team scores for red and blue are the same

Beta 2:

• The ability to change the skin color of the screenlet has been added
• The ability to change the font color of the screenlet has been added
• The ability to change the automatic reload interval in seconds has been added

Beta 3:

• A password protection indicator has been added in the form of a lock icon to indicate whether the Modded Weapons server is password-protected or not.

Install how-to

First, you must have Screenlets 0.1.2 installed on a Unix-like OS such as Linux.
To download/install it, use your distribution's package manager

Ubuntu 8.04 users: The version of Screenlets that is in Ubuntu's hardy repository is out of date. You must have access to the hardy-backports repository enabled to install version 0.1.2.

If Screenlets 0.1.2 (or later) is not available on any of your distribution's repositiories or if your distribution does not have a package manager, you can get the binaries/source for screenlets here

To install from your desktop environment:
Open the .tar.gz file that you downloaded and extract the HaloModdedWeaponsStats folder to /home/<username>/.screenlets/ where <username> is your username

To install from the command line on your UNIX-like OS:
tar -zxf HaloModdedWeaponsStats.tar.gz -C ~/.screenlets

• The begin date was June 2008, but entered as unknown because the actual begin date is unknown
